Old

I have nothing new this week to post on the blog so i chose my best work to put up. The reason why I'm putting something old on my blog is because I'm working on another project. Its my final for the class and its a video that is a work in progress. Thats it for now. See you next time.

Scifi Earth

This is my scifi earth. It took 3hrs to render it and its almost done. It would be done if i could figure out how to put in a picture of space to replace the black world background. so im going to try and add that in photoshop. the explanation on how i made the planet is in the last post about earth. The sun flare is a complicated node system in blender. Hope you like the earth.

EARTH!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is my earth. I made it as part of a first part to a sifi looking earth. It didnt take that long make but the second is going to take a long time to render not make but render. Yes i will actually follow up on this project but the final product will be posted the week after next. see you then hope you like it.

Ring

This is an opal ring i made using blender. I think the ring came out really well. The band was made using a circle mesh object and extruding it. After i got it to the shape i liked i subdivided the subsurface twice on the inside of the band and once on the outside so i could round the outside and keep the inside flat. The front part with the cool design holding the stone was made also by using the circle mech object. I first scaled it down and scaled the sides inward to get the oval shape. Then i extruded the points to their original positions (made a copy of the points still connected to it) and scaled them outwards. That repeated again and moved slightly back. After the hard to follow extruding of lines process in order for me to get the cool design i had to extrude the faces individually. That meaning i selected a group of faces and used the extrude option to extrude the individual faces. Then i hit the smooth option which made them look the way they are now. Then came making the stone using the UV sphere mesh object. I cut the sphere in half, scaled it down and made it an oval to fit in the part holding it. I would try to explain how i got the dark veins on the stone with the turquoise color but i can't. the explanation i can give is that i use a confusing node system in blender to mix and match a combination of materials the get the look of the stone. Dice

This week I made a pair of purple dice using blender. Making the dice took a bit longer than it should have simply because im not used to how the different functions work. so to start i made a cube and beveled the edges. then i added a bunch of spheres and placed them in the positions of the black dots in the picture. I proceeded to then make the spheres one object so i could boolean the cube with them and apply the modifier and delete the spheres. when i was done i was left with a cube so i added colors and moved them around and yeah. thats how that pic was created.

Chess

This was the project my teacher assigned as our midterm. we had to make a star trek chess board. he gave us a folder with the chess pieces like the pawns and the folder also contained pictures for references. hope you like it.

Tricorn vector

This is what i have been doing this week. I have been working and a 3D image to 3D print. its the destiny logo. I made it in C4D after i imported a .ai file with the work paths from photoshop. So I then extruded it and made a back for it so the pice in the middle is not just floating in mid air cus we don't have that kind of tech yet. Then I exported the C4D file as a .stl file so the 3D printer could print it and it did so thats what it looks like.

Iron banner

This is a logo that i made to be printed on a 3D printer. it took a couple tries to get it to print right. i got the parts in gold on there by making a work path in photoshop. then i converted the file into a .ai file and opened it in C4D and extruded it. after i was done i then exported the file as a .stl file so the 3D printer could print it. Thats what i've been working these past few days.

Logo



 

I made 3 different versions of the Aperture Science logo from a game called portal. I used an image from the internet to base the logo on. I used the magic wand tool to get an outline of the aperture symbol  then i used the paint bucket too to fill it with black. I used effects to bevel and emboss the logo and the text. I also gave it a drop shadow. after i got the logo looking good i cut it in half by copying one half cutting it then pasting it. I did that so i could make it look like the logo is going through portals.

Aperture Laboratories

For the first project I'm going to turn in I decided to make a logo. The logo I'm making is from a game called portal. to make it i found an image online and traced the main part that looks like a shutter for a camera using the magic wand tool. Then I filled the outline using the paint bucked tool. this isn't my final product as i am experimenting with different effects to make it look good.
